A 50% markup gives a 33.3% margin, not 50%.
Markup is profit divided by cost; margin is profit divided by price. Ads need a return of at least 3.00x at this margin to break even.

See ads managementThe formula
Selling price = cost x (1 + markup). Margin = (price - cost) / price x 100.
A worked example
A cost of 60 with a 50% markup gives a price of 90. Profit is 30 and the margin is 33.3%.
How to read your result
- A markup percentage is always higher than the margin it produces.
- Price for the margin you need, then check the return your ads must reach.

How do I calculate markup?
Divide profit by cost and multiply by 100. A product that costs 40 and sells for 60 has a 50% markup.
What markup do I need for a 50% margin?
A 100% markup: the price is double the cost, so half of the price is profit.
