See the ads auditsThe formula
CPA = ad spend / conversions. Profit per sale after ads = profit per sale before ads - CPA.
A worked example
3,000 of ads bring 60 sales: CPA is 50. If each sale makes 80 profit before ads, 30 is left after ads.
How to read your result
- A CPA above the profit per sale means every sale loses money.
- Missed conversions in tracking make CPA look worse than it is, so check tracking first.

What is the difference between CPA and CAC?
CPA is usually the ad cost per conversion in one campaign or channel. Customer acquisition cost (CAC) is all sales and marketing cost divided by new customers, including salaries and tools.
What is a good CPA?
One that leaves profit: lower than the profit you make from a sale or, for repeat customers, from their lifetime value.
